The topics of community, being human, mentoring, and eldering begin with the understanding that we are social beings, and that this aspect of our being yearns for deep human contact.
We live in a society where meaningful human contact has been seriously eroded, and that’s killing us. Literally. Loneliness is the number one cause of death among older people. Many chronic conditions (what a euphemism!) and ailments are traceable to lack of community. Depression, anxiety, addictions – all of these are consequences of separation from other people.
Let’s see what we can do about that. This Category will look at ways to honour elders, children, and everyone in between, things we can do to be together well, and how we can be healthier within and among ourselves. You will find insights, models, and suggestions that I hope will be practical and beneficial every day.
